Two more warships have arrived at the junta’s Danyawaddy Naval Headquarters in Kyaukphyu Township, Rakhine State, according to military monitoring sources.

The junta has been repeatedly reinforcing the naval base with additional troops and weapons. The base is also reportedly being used to transport personnel and military supplies to front-line areas.

The two vessels that arrived this month are reportedly combat ships equipped with heavy weapons capable of shelling targets along the coast.

Two more warships equipped with weapons capable of striking coastal targets have arrived. There are now at least 10 warships operating in the waters around Rakhine State,” a military source said.

The junta’s warships are reportedly patrolling waters along the Bangladesh border and off the coasts of Sittwe, Kyaukphyu, Myebon, Thandwe and Gwa.

Because the warships may increasingly use heavy weapons to shell coastal areas, some residents of coastal villages have had to leave their homes,” said a trader living in the Thandwe–Thabyu Chaing coastal area.

The junta has increasingly relied on airstrikes and naval shelling in its military operations targeting Rakhine State, according to local sources.
